Week 8 of deck building was a very exciting one because all the deck boards were down by the end of it!! The planer was still getting a workout like in phase I but by this point Mace had his process down. Here’s a quick progression of the weeks work.
Only one more board!!! There was still blocking work that needed to be done under the corner angles (there’s always something!) and that would get done over the next few weeks.
Back when we were building the foundation I had talked about getting the angles on the bump out right so the boards didn’t get askew at the end. Mace probably won’t appreciate me showing this given his perfect complex but the execution of keeping everything straight and inline is pretty damn near perfect, especially on a deck this size, with the exception of one angle board. It’s barely noticeable in the finished product in my opinion.
Here’s a shot of the center boards looking back at the slider.
And our inspector decided to come check it out as well!! Kobe is afraid of heights and he was very unsure of the deck and really did not want to be out there so it was pretty amusing for us to watch.
The deck was looking beautiful and our yard had taken a beating of the last few months but there were no more deck boards, yay!!!
